For Visitors

Overlook Hospital Lobby

Overlook Hospital welcomes patient visitors. Visiting relatives and friends can improve patient morale and aid in recovery. Please remember, however, that rest and quiet are essential for the patient's well-being.

The following guidelines have been established in cooperation with our staff to ensure the proper balance for our patients:

  • To maintain privacy and confidentiality of our patients, and to ensure a restful environment, please limit the number of visitors to two people at a time.
  • Please limit visitation to children over the age of 12. We ask that children not be brought to visit if they have been exposed to a communicable disease.
  • To protect patients’ privacy and minimize noise, cell phone use is restricted to waiting rooms and common areas such as the cafeteria, lobby and meeting rooms. Use of the camera feature on cell phones is prohibited.
  • Overlook is a smoke-free hospital.
  • Visitors should use the public restrooms located on each patient floor rather than patient bathrooms.
  • As a courtesy to patients, please do not sit on patient beds.
  • Visitors may be asked to leave a patient’s room during an examination. A nurse will indicate when visitors may return.
  • Overnight stays in the patient's room are generally not permitted. However, for extenuating circumstances, contact the Nurse Manager.
  • Persons with colds or infections should not visit.
  • In case of a fire, visitors should remain where they are until they receive instructions from the hospital staff and the Fire Department personnel. Do not use the elevators.
  • Relatives and patients interested in contacting patients can call Patient Information at 908-522-2100.
